Strengthening Cypriot civil society

Cyprus, 10 June 2008 - Against a background of division and suspicion, social development in Cyprus relies on building trust and cooperation between the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities of the island. The promotion of citizens’ activities and contacts outside of formal politics helps to this end: through the Cyprus Civil Society Strengthening Programme, UNDP helps civil society gropups from both communities work together for concrete goals and to develop their role in the democratic governance of the island...
