Culture in Action and the platform of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot Teachers, United Cyprus, are organising a two-day short-film festival With Brand-new Eyes on 11 and 12 June 2010 at the Peace Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Lefkosia, at the end of Ledra street.

The aim of the particular event is the revitalisation of the historic centre of Nicosia, as well as the meeting of Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots in the context of a cultural event with elements from the culture of both communities. The work of well-known as well as young filmmakers, such as Adonis Florides, Yianna Amerikanou, Ioakeim Mylonas, Kiros Papavasiliou, Vasvi Ciftcioglu, Esra Ummak will be shown. 
 

All are welcome to a two hour screening of short films by both Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot filmmakers on 11 and 12 June at 8pm. On Friday between the screenings we will have a discussion with the creators, while on Saturday a party will follow the screenings. 

The event is sponsored by the ‘ENGAGE’ Project, which is a programme run by the NGO Support Centre and the Management Centre. This programme’s main goal is the interaction between Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities for aspects of the Cyprus reality, through strengthening the role of the Civil Society, and networking of several NGOs.
