Engage: Do Your Part for Peace - CDA: Reflecting on Peace Processes training and workshop / Launch of the Peace and Reconciliation Active Dialogue Network

CDA: Reflecting on Peace Processes training and workshop / Launch of the Peace and Reconciliation Active Dialogue Network

A three day training session (30/04, 2/05, 03/05/2012) to be delivered by the CDA Cumulative Impact Learning Project (based in the US) with the support of the Engage project with participants from Greece, Turkey, Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, Egypt, Sudan, Jordan, the US and Cyprus (the Engage team and the core members of the Peace and Reconciliation ADN).  The training will examine situations where there has been progress towards peace – in some cases sustained and in others not – in order to learn more about:
• Whether and how multiple peace efforts “add up” to cumulative impacts for peace;
• How activities and successes at the community or local level, and at the national level, can be linked to provide sustainable changes towards peace; and
• How programs at the local or community level (what some have called “peace writ little”) can be linked to facilitate change in the macro-level (or Peace Writ-Large) conflict factors.

A one day Feedback session (04/05/2012) where a wider group, including a number of members of the Peace and Reconciliation ADN, will explore a series of cross-cutting issues that have been identified through previous case consultations and through intensive analysis of case study material.  These have been captured in a set of Issue Papers that will serve as the basis for discussion drawing on participants’ own experiences.

The workshop day will serve as a launch for the Engage ADN on Peace and Reconciliation which will then begin work soon.

The final half day (05/05/2012) will be a session between the CDA Trainers, the Engage team and 2-4 core members of the ADN on the Peace and Reconciliation ADN, where effectively a map of how the ADN should progress will be drawn up.
