Dr. Pouyioutas was born in Cyprus, and educated in Computer Science at Queen Mary College, University of London, then proceeded to obtain a MSc and PhD in Computer Science (Databases) from Birkbeck College, University of London. He also obtained a CertEd Diploma in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education from the University of North London.

He is currently a Senior Research Fellow at the Research and Development Center of Intercollege He holds the following posts at Intercollege: Associate Academic Dean, Director of Academic Affairs, and Associate Professor in Computer Science. He has also served as the Director of the Computer Science and Multimedia programs, the Co-ordinator of the Teaching and Learning Information Technology Group, the Y2K project manager, the Chair of the Information Technology Strategy Group, the Co-ordinator of the Web-Site Development Group, the Designer of the Academic Information Content of the Intercollege Faculty Intranet, and the Chairperson of the Intercollege Research Committee. In the past, Dr Pouyioutas was a lecturer at Birkbeck College (1989-1996) and at the University of North London (1992-1996) teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate programs. He was also the Director of the BSc program in Business Information Systems at the University of North London (1993-1996).

Dr Pouyioutas has served as a chair, editor of proceedings and member of scientific committees and reviewer of International Conferences and journals, as well as a supervisor of a PhD student and numerous MSc students in the area of Database Systems and Information Technology in Education and Cultural heritage. His research interests include Multimedia Applications in Cultural Heritage and Education, Relational and Object-Oriented Databases and Graphical and Visual Interfaces. His research work has been supported by various research grants (over 300000 Euros) and has been published in International Conference Proceedings and Journals (1 textbook written, 1 book edited and more than 40 refereed papers). As a result of funded research, Dr Pouyioutas has developed, used and evaluated on-line multimedia Web-based material. He is currently in charge of the development of the new Web-Site of Intercollege and oversees the development of the InterLearning and InterTest Educational software.
